چکیده

A 27-year-old Japanese female developed nephrotic syndrome and impaired renal function during pregnancy. A renal biopsy performed at 21 weeks of gestation revealed crescentic IgA nephropathy. She was treated with steroid pulse therapy followed by conventional steroid therapy. Although the nephrotic syndrome was persistent, the impaired renal function did not deteriorate after the treatment. A live infant was delivered by cesarean section at 37 weeks of gestation. After the delivery, both the nephrotic syndrome and renal insufficiency improved gradually. The

Report of a Case of Immunoglobulin A Nephropathy in a Patient Without a Family History of Kidney Disease

Introduction: IgA Nephropathy is the most common form of glomerulonephritis and the major cause of end-stage renal disease. Gross or microscopic hematuria is a common symptom of hematuria and occurs in less than 5% to 10% of patients with IGM with rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis. The aim of this study was to investigate the diagnostic biomarkers of this disease after biopsy. Methods: IgA...

Coexistence of atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome and crescentic IgA nephropathy treated with eculizumab: a case report

Rapid progression to end-stage renal disease has been reported in a minority of patients with immunoglobulin A (IgA) nephropathy. In particular, crescentic IgA nephropathy has a poor prognosis in patients with a higher initial serum creatinine level. The complement system plays an important role in the pathogenesis of crescentic IgA nephropathy. Atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (aHUS), which ...

A case of rapidly progressive IgA nephropathy in a patient with exacerbation of Crohn’s disease

BACKGROUND IgA nephropathy has been reported as a renal involvement in Crohn's disease. Crescentic IgA nephropathy, which accounts for fewer than 5% of cases of IgA nephropathy, has a poorer prognosis than other forms of crescentic glomerulonephritis. We recently experienced a case of rapidly progressive IgA nephropathy concurrent with exacerbation of Crohn's disease. CASE PRESENTATION An 18-...

Complete remission of nephrotic syndrome and acute kidney injury in crescentic IgA nephropathy: Role of mycophenolate sodium

Optimal therapy and prognosis of crescentic-IgA nephropathy (C-IgAN) are not known. Reported treatment options for C-IgAN include combination of corticosteroids and cyclophosphamide for 6 months. The role of mycophenolate sodium in C-IgAN is unknown. We report a case of C-IgAN that was successfully treated with combination immunosuppressive therapy.

Crescentic IgA nephropathy and acute renal failure in an HIV-positive patient with enteric salmonella infection.

The association of HIV with renal disease has been well documented since the early days of the epidemic [1]. Heavy proteinuria and rapid progression to renal failure are described as clinical characteristics in most cases arising in HIV-infected patients. On renal biopsy many of these patients have been shown to have a distinctive combination of focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS), cystic...
